The benefits of hypnosis

Hypnosis uses guided relaxation to obtain a very peaceful state of trance. During this relaxed state, you will focus on your issue and exchange it for positive thoughts, emotions, and sensations. Depending on the behavior you want to change, whether it’s an emotion, a habit, or a thought pattern, the modality used during the hypnosis sessions is one the following:

Suggestion therapy: Typically used to exchange unhealthy habits and addictions for beneficial and healthy behaviors. Also, it enhances the thought process helping you see positive outcomes from what otherwise would have been an unwanted thought or emotion; in other words, seeing the other side of the tunnel with happy anticipation.

Analysis approach: Commonly used to find the root of the problem or issue, such as dependency and PTSD. You can look at it as starting with the conscious state, moving past the unconscious, and reaching the subconscious to change while awake yet very relaxed. Once you are in a very relaxed state, you will focus on past events hidden in your unconscious memory and positively face them.

Coping skills: You will learn behavioral-cognitive skills to manage triggers.  You will also learn the STOP! Technique.

Hypnosis is commonly used to treat the following behaviors:

  • Quit smoking
  • Reduce depression and anxiety
  • Sleeplessness due to stressful thoughts
  • Weight loss
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Stuttering
  • Trichotillomania
  • Pain management
  • Phobias and fears
  • Manage post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Sexual dysfunction and frigidity
  • Control certain addictions

Benefits of Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a physically and mentally therapeutic practice.

Yin Yoga will help you obtain a healthy range of motion. Holding poses a little longer gently lengthens the muscles and the fascia helping break up adhesions and applying very mild stress to joints and connective tissues can increase flexibility.

As you hold a yin pose, you will experience a subtle release that takes you deeper into the pose is the tissues lengthening, hydrating, and becoming more pliable.

You will feel a heightened awareness of the physiological processes of the body ultimately moves us closer to santosha, or contentment and happiness.  That’s Yin Yoga for you!

During Yin Yoga, tissues are being stretched, squeezed, twisted, and compressed. A yin practice can leave you feeling as though you’ve had a massage.

By surrendering emotions, thoughts, and giving up the need of control, you will strengthen your emotional resilience.  Diaphragmatic breathing, or belly breathing, triggers the parasympathetic nervous system, which results in regulating certain body functions such as digestion.  Activating the parasympathetic nervous system reduces stress, tension, lowers blood pressure, improves sleep, enhances digestion, strengthens immune function, balances hormones, and more.

The Yin Yoga component to meditation prepares the body and mind to enter a heightened state of relaxation preparing you to benefit even more from your personal mind-body practice.

Benefits of MediTation

Meditation is known to be an excellent stress, and anxiety reliever.  Stress and anxiety are disorders that are considered the major triggers of depression.  Meditation reduces the effects of the triggers that contribute to depression by training the brain to achieve sustained focus, and to return to that focus, such as your breath, when negative thoguhts, emotions, and unwelcome physical sensations intrude, which is common when you feel stressed and anxious.

Meditation can help with both binge eating, bulimia and emotional eating which are the main culprits for weight gain.  In addition, the breathing practices of meditation and yoga are particularly beneficial for reducing lipids (fats) by providing your body with more oxygen to oxidize fat.  The stimuli produced by stress elevates cortisol which indirectly leads to hormonal obesity.  You will reduce stress by increasing the depth of your breath and focusing on the rise and fall of your chest and belly.  After your Yin Yoga – Meditation practice, you will feel energized and happy, which are sensations and emotions that play a key role in achieving fat loss.
